THIS is one account of MANY.
I am actively encouraging other victims to put their story out there as well.
There are multiple class-action lawsuits being sought, and my hope is they join together.

If you have fallen victim to any scam or theft by Christopher Allan Gann and his wife Raquel Gann of Gann Memorials, Joyus Toyus, My Toy Broker, Midnight Mares, or any other brand Gann owns, PLEASE don’t hesitate to reach out, publish your story, seek a suit to join, etc.

I am Lex, I have been in business for over a decade. My family worked at the Post Office for decades, and I am familiar with business importing versus domestic shipping. I dealt with contracts as a regular part of my job in a couple of industries, I’m an incredibly assertive person who has no qualms of confrontation, and I cannot stress to you how manipulative, exhausting, and generally terrible Christopher Gann is to deal with once you pay him. Cozykins is my latest venture, and the first fully-manufactured product I would have offered.

DISCLOSURE: I have been fully refunded, from what I can tell. There may be a gap, I can’t bring myself to quadruple-check. Be better than me, only accept one form of payment from Gann if he begins a refund. Dude has MASTERED weaponized incompetence to a nuclear degree.

I reached out to 13 factories in March, April, and May of 2024. These factories were all over the planet, and Gann was 1 of either 1 or 2 based here in the U.S. I was impressed by Gann because he was the ONLY factory on the list to pick up the phone, call me, and actually speak to me about everything. Out of 13 factories, only about 7 ever even responded, 100% by email except Gann. It instantly set him apart, unfortunately. He was warm, friendly, a bit flattering about my business, which meant a lot to me.
I looked up Joyus Toyus LLC, the brand Gann was working under when I hired him, to vet background. As of May 2024, Joyus had good standing with a B rating on BBB.org, there were no negative reviews I could find, I saw the factory had a Myrtle Beach address, good website, and despite the lack of a formal contract, I’m comfortable with the law surrounding legal contractually-binding language and practice. The terms were listed in the invoice I first paid early June.

I informed Chris Gann I would be moving forward. I sent him my designs, agreed to the quote, and got a loan from my bank against our family van, the only transport we have for our 4 kids. Over the course of the first week of June 2024, I made 3 payments to Joyus Toyus/Christopher Gann totaling approximately $14,500. I paid all the associated fees for moving the money, totaling some $500-someodd dollars for that round.
I agreed to a 14-day turnaround per iteration, unlimited edits for 6 months per design (I had 3 designs), and Gann not only agreed but spoke on how my September 2024 deadline should work out just fine. Gann adertises a 7-10 day turnaround per prototype on his website and socials, but I recognized I had a smaller order— 1,500 units total, 500 of each design to commence the business.
Things started off strong, and I got an update within a couple of weeks as agreed. I thought it was incredibly odd that the very first design— a cream-colored Pekingese— lacked fur on her head, but had it everywhere else. They turned this prototype in via video, without explanation for the obvious error. (You can look at the image above, and see the all-white dog with a bald head, affectionately named “Einstein”.) Her color was wildly off as well. I sent feedback using images redlined with changes, so things were very clearly shown being adjusted. I included the Pantones for this initial dog design to help with coloring, I sent the swatch, code, AND official Pantone color name. You can check out the exact feedback for this first design on her THIRD iteration. Gann’s team received a full concept including real images of the dog serving as inspiration (my own, Vienna) before they ever got started. I instantly felt I was having to offer some VERY obvious feedback, like asking them to fur her head, informing them that both the white and orange coats weren’t good matches, her tail was an odd log like a fuzzy beaver tail.
Despite the odd, shoddy work, I remained positive and optimistic.

-I will note, that his wife— Raquel Gann— and a woman he claimed to have newly-hired at the time named Luanny Bento were both on our Basecamp chats throughout this entire process. Every email about Basecamp and every BC message had their names at the bottom as receivers, and neither of them ever contacted me or spoke to me at all.

Updates slowed through July, and then halted entirely in August 2024.
-As a quick note, it was in JULY 2024 when Frank from World’s Greatest TV called me, saying they picked up my brand for their next segment. I’m no stranger to being invited to various productions, to speak or engage, so I informed Gann that my product he is working on HAS to be done before they call back to schedule end of November 2024. This opportunity was lost due to Chris’ antics, sloppiness, manipulations, lies, and general narnery.

I messaged and called, and eventually, after telling me he was “expecting an update”, Gann responded that “the factory is off for the month for vacation” in September. This was never communicated, warned about, and despite initial attempts to contact, he did not actually update me about this until much later. So, through August, I was lead to believe I would be getting my next iteration or prototype, only to be told literally the next month they were" “on vacation” the entire month.
This would be the FIRST time I told Gann I would like a refund, because we would not make my September 2024 preorder deadline. He placated me by promising free delivery on my plushies, which would save me some $3,000 down the line, so I agreed.
Gann said that by the end of 2024, we would have my stuff shipped out and rolling out. It seemed reasonable enough as it was nearly doubling our timeline.

THREE MONTHS. Around 3 months went by before I got any true updates again, despite regularly texting, calling, and message Gann on Basecamp. I got excuses about the factory being backed up, about holiday orders getting rushed out, about seemingly whatever he could pull out that day. I had taken on a new big client, so I was truly too busy to be too mad. I believed Gann when he said they were too busy as well. In this time, October 2024 I again heard about taking a break that was not warned about nor communicated for a few weeks or so.
Now, this ALL put us approximately 3-4 months behind schedule at this point. But I’m not new to business, so I rode the wave. Shit really does happen, sometimes, I truly offered every benefit of the doubt.

I eventually got updates about my 2nd and 3rd designs, that they were working on them. Then weeks later, my 2nd design was done. I saw her (Lila Bunny) and despite a few complaints, they remained internal as I was VERY anxious to get this done. I approved, they moved on to my FINAL design, Thank (pronounced “Tank”) the robot, which I had finally received an update on for the first time January 6th, 2025— 4 full months after I was supposed to already have preorders open for all 3 designs.

You would think, at this point, that things were smoothed out. After the 3 months of breached contract on prototype turnaround and production timeline destruction, Gann offered me my 2nd placation, 10 skins of each of my 3 designs, for free, including shipping, for the “lack of communication.” So I was saving on both shipping and a concept I wanted to test, at this point, which felt okay. 30 skins for 3 months of destroying my business’ timeline and ability to market didn’t feel very fair, but I felt maybe he was trying. I sure hoped someone would see me when I was trying. He had explained his daughter and his wife’s daughter each had a baby a few months apart, his daughter “was the one helping communicate and run things” (I never once met, knew about, nor spoke to his daughter, only to Gann directly) and so he was apologetic about the chaos between holidays for them & the business.

Unfortunately, I would say that as bad as things had been going, they started taking a turn for the worse around this time Thank got rolling.
I AGAIN experienced a slowing and a complete halt of production throughout January, despite contact through EVERY avenue available to me I got the same exact updates in January 2024 as I had both August and October 2024— the factory AGAIN took a full month off without warning or communication, but I was only given that excuse after WEEKS of Christopher Gann promising an update was just another day, another week away.

At this point, approximately, Gann offered me free hangtags for lack of communication again. So, around this time of January 2025, I was promised free workshop skins of my designs, free shipping for my entire order, and free hangtags on every plush.
Around 1-2 months later, in April, nothing was moving so I requested a fast edit on my Vienna plush to make her look more like the others, I requested her eyes be embroidered rather than plastic. It was HERE that I learned they use a 3rd party company to do the embroidery, and that they deprioritized my order because it “was such a small order” (1,500 units), and that they “have orders of 80,000-150,000 units being produced.” All the designs had been finished and approved to ship the 3 samples to me, so I can approve the full production. I kept asking Gann if I would receive the samples before the end of April, when he called me to discuss the tariffs, the continued delays.
It was on that phone call that he basically told me I never had a large enough order to hold any priority with him, that he had people with bigger orders “jumping down [his] throat.” I had been entirely professional, kind, and understanding throughout this entire process, and he noted that on this call and thanked me intensely for being so nice while he “figures everything out.”
He then offered to cover all the tariffs on my order, since I had paid in full nearly a year prior. Thus, in April, my placation was stacked up— free shipping, free skins, free hangtags, and then free tariffs, on my entire order.

In May 2025, I evaluated everything.
I sat down and re-read the terms I had agreed to, consulted with a lawyer, and spoke with my colleagues and alumni. I searched for terms across our emails, text messages, and Basecamp messages. I noted everything he promised me and approximately when. From June 2024 to May 2025, Gann had promised me some $7,000 in gifts and accommodation across 4 instances (shipping, skins, hangtags, tariffs), stalled by a full month with the excuse “the factory was on vacation” three times (3 months of lost production time directly, outside of his personal delays), in August, October, and February. I have been offered numerous excuses that all share a theme— emotional manipulation.
It was his daughters giving birth one after the other, then he could never call me because he was praying over dinner with his family, watching a movie with family, he’s been struggling because everyone’s yelling at him (which, I would later learn, were actually other victims demanding their money back and not buyers salty about tariffs), oh now it’s his son’s birthday, then his and his wife’s. Life happens, and I am an advocate for work-life integration, so I wholly supported Christopher taking time with his family and was always willing to wait. I ALWAYS want to be treated like a human being, like I am allowed to step out of work and watch my kids grow up, like I am allowed time off, to care for myself— I give this to everyone I work with in any capacity, as it’s exactly what I believe should be the norm. YES, against my gut feelings that he was scamming me the whole time, because then I brought up to him I am worried about the integrity of this project and he was so apologetic and reassuring.

Early May 2025, I communicated the biggest event of the year for me will be one I sponsored, mid-June deadline. I state how I absolutely NEED my completed samples, I am desperate. Gann did not hesitate to exploit my pain, and offered me a $4,500 “rush fee” on a project he failed, that was at the time now EIGHT MONTHS (8!) late. I outright told him no, he is late and I can’t pull out yet another loan to pay him more. He offered to pay half of the fee, so I asked what the timeline looks like before versus after I pay this “rush fee” on a broken order that I am not rushing? He promised that I would have my current samples no later than the week of June 10th, and that without the fee my timeline looked like mid-late July, 2025.
So, of course, I paid the fee, but I actually paid around $2,500. So he did not pay half.

June rolls in, I am touching base constantly. June 14th is my event, this is IT, the thing I waited OVER A YEAR to do! June 12th, he finally tells me he is overnighting 2 of my samples, and will send me tracking. He was still waiting on Vienna from embroidering her eyes. He requested I remind him in the morning, which felt incredibly unprofessional, but I did so. 5am my time, I sent the text “Reminder to ship stuff out.” He “liked” the message, all this on the morning of June 13th, 2025. June 14th comes, my event is SLAMMED, I am selling out of the handmade stuff. My spouse runs home twice to check the mail and our porch, and never finds anything.
8:19pm my time June 14th, after we FINALLY get home from the event, I send Gann a text informing him I never received anything. His response reads “Yes, we checked into it and it looks like there was a mechanical issue that delayed it. It’s still in our city unfortunately. We did our best.” I stated “Can I get the tracking please?”
“Yes, I’m out of town for the big military parade in DC, so I’ll check when I return on Monday. My son in law marching in it.” I knew he was lying.

Monday June 16th of 2025, I officially requested a refund, citing multiple breaches of contract, failure to meet obligations, destruction of the integrity of my project, etc. I messaged via text, email, and Basecamp, copy-pasted. Gann kept trying to get my on the phone, then sent a voice message stating that, because he made prototypes, he can refund me but would need to keep $2,000, but that if I would work with him and not cancel he would essentially DOUBLE my order, for free. This was such an immense red flag at this point, and an indication he understood he was in the wrong, so I doubled-down on my refund in full— including interest paid on my loans AND fees paid for sending him money.
I informed him that just because the terms state he could keep $2,000 for 3 prototypes, does not mean that he met the conditions to legally be entitled to that money. I gave him quick notes about his many breaches, placations, and reminded him I am just a mom in empty ol’ Wyoming that took a bet on myself. I have 4 kids to care for, and if he thinks his “business” (if one could refer to it as such) is aching from losing this production then imagine how my business that never even got to START makes me feel.

From here, Gann devolved slightly, but I stuck to the facts, provided screenshots of a couple things to him to show him his promises, our agreement, his behavior. The next day, he agreed to refund me, and requested a payment plan. I did the math and gave him the total, just under $17,000. He himself proposed a 6-week payment plan, and instantly sent $500 clarifying it’s for me to keep for the trouble; likely good faith to prevent me from coming after him, which I have not, up to time of writing.
His next payment was via Paypal, just over $2,500. This would take around 2 weeks to free up, 1 week later we swapped to wiring the money. June 25th, he updated Vienna arrived, and he would ship all 3 samples to me at his expense.
June 27th, he claims he will “finish dinner” and send me the money. This old boy waited all day and evening to even start trying, when he had agreed to my specific terms that he send BY 3pm his time so it can process every Friday and not sit the weekend. Another $2,500 received from him. So we started off well enough for me.
Waiting until close to midnight MY time on paydays was his habit. He would wait until the weekend so that I had to wait 2.5 days to get the money.

June 28th, Gann provides tracking for the samples.
From here, we enter into an intensive debt collection relationship. I texted and occasionally called EVERY single week, anywhere from 1-3 times weekly, depending on how timely he was with payments, comments he made, questions he asked, etc. He would make jabs emotionally, claiming that comments I left on his business page “were harming the business” and that it would “render payment being delayed.” I informed him I work marketing, his page barely has any likes and has historically NEVER had effective engagement, that I can tell just by looking from the outside his metrics don’t budge on a good day. He does not keep the page updated, does not post consistently, and so on.
He tried to ask me who else I knew he owed money to, a few times, in a few different ways. I usually played like the one person he saw I connected with in his comments was the only one, reminded him I don’t work for free, and he owes me quite a bit of money for the situation. I sometimes reminded him that I took out loans and paid him in 3 days, that he was bragging about huge orders and still had to request a 6-week payplan. Every single comment he made that seemed like a manipulation in any form, I rebutted with the facts.

I received the samples, which were awful. Vienna’s fur was that of garbage bag fibers; an odd roughness to it, almost like pig fur. Her tail was never fixed, and was this sloppy log they had contorted into a spiral. Her face looked much better, at least. She was so firm and NOT cuddly. Lila was soft, but her legs were stubs, and her bunny tail had threads poking out of it every which way, literally dangling by a thread, and fell off pulling her out of the bag. Her embroidered eyes were too small, so the star pattern was smudged. Thank’s side pocket was big enough for a thumb, meant to hold multiple fidget toys and made futile for the task. The print on his tummy buttons came out cute, his seams were messy and asymmetrical. They each looked completely different, with different textures, very different sizing/proportions— and they’re supposed to be from the same brand.

His final payment to me came through, finally.

WHERE TO GO FROM HERE

If you or someone you know has entered into dealings with Christopher Gann, and you’re experiencing issues, PLEASE take FULL action! If we can all work together, we can ensure nobody else is harmed, and that this evildoer cannot scam others and harm or destroy their business in the process like some of ours were.
These are in no specific order, and can be worked through however you prefer. Each step is another brick in our fortress against him.

  • Go to the Joyus Toyus Facebook page, leave a comment about your experience on several posts, copy-pasted. BLOCK the page, so that he cannot go delete your comments. The purpose is to leave them so others can see them.

  • Go to the Joyus Toyus Google Maps page, and copy-paste your experience there as well. If you do not see it listed, please “Submit Listing” to Google to get it back on.

  • Go to Christopher Gann’s Facebook profile, and start copy-pasting your experience on some of his stuff. BLOCK him, so he cannot see and delete your comments. The purpose is the same as the page, but also to encourage some investigation or accountability from his family who may see the comments. (I would avoid spamming the everliving shit out of his profile to avoid it being used against you.)

  • Make a Public post to each of your socials briefly describing your experience, but explicitly naming Christopher Gann and his various “companies”. Name anyone else involved in your transaction or production, even if they were only included in a couple of messages or emails! Keep these posts public, as almost all platforms do SEO captions now. (Raquel Gann may have been included in your communications.)

  • Call up YOUR state Attorney General’s Office, and leave a complaint. They may have to mail you a form, or may direct you to file a complaint online. Be detailed!

  • Call up HIS state Attorney General’s Office (currently known to be South Carolina). They say you must be a resident, so it may take pairing up with someone closer, OR having a public spot that would be okay with a single quick delivery, if needed.

  • Later in 2024, Gann LOST his accredation with the BBB entirely for “lacking integrity in business”. Be sure to file a complaint on BBB.org to keep up the paper trail!

  • You might try copy-pasting your experience to ALL his brands’ platforms. Yelp has an old brand I am aware of; I do too much and can’t hunt them all down, but if you go digging you will find some of them!

  • If you have a website, make an “unlinked page” like this one (Just means it keeps it out of your main navigation). You can request your web manager do this for you, if operating under one. Get as detailed as possible, without listing his personal address or names of family— anything that could fall under doxxing should be avoided. List his full name and other brands, because you want folks clicking on OUR stories, NOT his sites. This is highly likely going to be the fastest, easiest way to prevent other people from giving Christopher Allan Gann any money.

  • You can inform your bank and Paypal, Zelle, or other pay platform you used about what happened. AVOID filing for a refund until you have given Gann a chance to pay; if he fails, you have even more evidence for a suit, not less.

  • If Gann cuts contact with you, stops making his agreed payments, or other abuses, please do not hesitate to both file for a refund through your pay channels, AND file with your local courthouse against him.

At this time, this is the best we can team up together and do. If you are new to the situation, I cannot stress enough that you play it like a game, take it one day and one move at a time.

Everything relevant is here and in the Joyus Toyus SCAM Facebook group, including from other users. (I do vet people intensely for joining, you simply will not be allowed in the group without proving you are a victim to these predatory business transactions.)
We are aware now that these exact abuses go back the past 4 years, potentially earlier. I got my investment back and likely will no longer qualify for any entitlements in any future proceedings, thought this experience very provably destroyed my business, Cozykins Plushies, and rendered me entirely unable to produce soft plush companions indefinitely. I have taken steps, reinvested the money back in, but doing this myself is proving another battle.

I am sad that I never got quality, and even when he FINALLY refunded me, it was through INTENSIVE and incredibly assertive follow-up. The 2 ladies I spoke to through my refund process had heard the same promises, faced the same excuses, offered similar graces, and ended up in the same spot, fighting for anything back.
One of those ladies knows other victims— MANY victims, by the sounds of it. She is in the FB group. She spoke of a group of people had filed a suit, won, and never got paid because Gann closed up shop and dodged the debts.
The other woman filed a suit and scored a hearing, which scared Gann into a quick $2,500 payment to her as well as of late August 2025/early September 2025, before asking for another payplan for the rest— after completely ghosting the plan she had graciously previously agreed to for him.

The testimonials on Gann’s website are REAL, and NOT. Myself and other victims have contacted all of them— some get back, some don’t, some closed shop. In contacting everyone, the ones who did respond shared of mediocre experiences; even his testimonial people were confused as to how or why some of those quotes ended up there. None of the responses were horrible; it almost sounds like Gann had done an okay job actually providing product after hiccups and delays, but none to the extent of what folks have been reporting the past 3-4 years, now. THOUSANDS of dollars locked up, no product, no quality, no communication, excuses and deflections, etc.
There is supposed to be another victims’ group of people seeking action, but I don’t have those details as I got my situation cleaned up VERY quick comparatively. The FB group linked here has someone who should know about that. I’ll reiterate that you will NOT be added to the group without a complete, established profile. If you do not have a Facebook, I do not have anything else for you, I’m sorry. ALL current support exists on FB that we are aware of.

Thank you for taking the time to read over this, and for supporting me in finding my way again after the intense heartbreak and grief of losing my business to someone whom I gave every single opportunity to prove they’re better than what they’ve been showing me. They obviously never did. I hope this page helps prevent more damage!
